CSI installs Agnati corrugator with integrated Corrucleaner

CSI (Corrugated Synergies International) started its first sheet feeder operation in 1982. Today they serve over 60 independent sheet plants. Apart from sheet feeding, CSI specializes in innovative high-end corrugated printing.

Since last year their digital division, Visual Impact PrePrint, LLC, provides premium, direct-to-board trade digital printing. And this year CSI adds a corrugator with integrated Corrucleaner HE-90 to supply dust-free corrugated board for their digital printing division.

Direct to board digital printing requires dust-free corrugated board

CSI’s first digital press, a high-speed corrugated EFI Nozomi press, allows the company to replace litho lamination jobs with direct to corrugated printing.
The resulting perfect quality, fast production, and larger volumes create new opportunities for the high-volume trade printing facility.

To cater to the demand for high-quality corrugated board, CSI decided to manufacture its own corrugated in the building next to the digital-printing facility. Therefore, last month, our valued partner JKSP completed the installation of an Agnati corrugator with integrated Corrucleaner HE-90 in the Santa Teresa NM facility.

Eliminating corrugated dust and fibers at the source

Digital printing requires corrugated board without dust and contamination. By removing contaminants, CSI ensures optimal printing results and a clean production environment. (Read more on the subject of dust elimination and manufacturing corrugated board.)

As the dry end of the corrugator generates most of the dust and fibers, CSI installed a Corrucleaner HE-90 web cleaner after the slitter/scorer. This eliminates particles and fibers at the primary source. Since the slitters generate 65 % of unwanted particles during converting, this position is of utmost importance.

The pull roll section of the slitter forces all contamination into the web’s surface.

If the demand for clean corrugated board increases, the system can be upgraded with additional sheet cleaners after the cross-cut sections.
